June 5th
70: Titus and his Roman legions breach the middle wall of Jerusalem, mostly by masquerading as a bunch of peace activists.
1817: The first Great Lakes steamer, the Frontenac, is launched. Like all cruises, it takes about two minutes for everyone to get bored enough to need to start gambling and buying overpriced booze.
1942: The U.S. declares war on Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania... angering Nazis and vampires everywhere.
