September 13th

509 BC: The temple of Jupiter on Rome's Capitoline Hill is dedicated, with special acknowledgement of the men’s urinals, donated by the Sapperstein family.

1848: Vermont railroad worker Phineas Gage survives a 3-foot iron rod being driven through his head… proving once and for all that unionized railroad workers today are a bunch of wusses.

1899: Henry Bliss is the first person in the United States to be killed in an automobile accident… and the last victim of an accident that didn’t involve Lindsay Lohan.
