September 19th


1778: The Continental Congress passes the first budget of the United States… the budget goes into the red within 15 minutes.


1959: Nikita Khrushchev is barred from visiting Disneyland… mostly in hopes of protecting the state secrets protected by the Pirates fo the Caribbean.


1985: Tipper Gore and other political wives form the Parents Music Resource Center as Frank Zappa and other musicians testify at U.S. Congressional hearings on obscenity in rock music. Like all things the government tries to fix, the problem immediately gets better and pop music is much less obscene now than it was in 1985.
