August 8th

1945: The United Nations Charter is signed by the United States, as the U.S. takes a stand against war, imperialism, and the chance of finding decent parking in Manhattan.

1973: U.S. Vice President Spiro Agnew appears on television to denounce accusations he had taken kickbacks while governor of Maryland. Of course it was true, he just didn’t think the accusations were nice.

1974: President Richard Nixon announces his resignation, forever discouraging all politicians from lying ever again.
